Christmas is getting closer and closer and before we know it, it’ll be already here! By the way, how’s your holiday shopping been coming along? Are you on time, ahead of time, or do you always wish you had more time? Quite frankly, I’m one to wish I had more time to think about what to get for the guys in the family, particularly my brother. Thankfully, a fleeting thought struck this sleep-deprived mind of mine and I came up with 3 holiday gift bucket ideas for him. Allow me to share these 3 ideas with you lest I forget about them after I wake up from my next power nap.
Yes, gift “bucket”. You’re not reading it incorrectly neither am I typing it incorrectly. I may be lacking some a lot of sleep since our baby just finally surpassed the newborn stage, but hey, I think I’m still able to spot a typo. I think.
The Common Items In Each Holiday Gift Bucket
Since my brother is the type who loves to put his best face forward–and maintain it, especially during the holiday season–I thought he’d probably appreciate a new Philips Sonicare 2 series toothbrush for a superior clean (it removes up to 6 times more plaque than a manual toothbrush). I guess it just makes sense to include this toothbrush as a key item in all 3 of the different gift bucket ideas, along with a “holiday dental survival kit”. Everyone loves a nice smile (don’t ya think?) especially for those picture perfect holiday moments! Of all the siblings, my brother is the one who has always seemed to love to smile for the camera.
The toothbrush came in 3 different Target-exclusive colors: blue, green, and red. I chose blue.
I created a holiday dental survival kit by putting together travel-sized toothpaste, mouthwash, and dental floss inside a Christmas tin (surely these cute little tins aren’t just made for sweets, are they?). Then, I wrapped 3 packs of sugar-free gum in a nice little treat bag.
The Different Items In Each Gift Bucket
Okay, so… let’s talk about how each of the 3 gift buckets differ. You see, a) my brother has a mean sweet tooth, b) he also loves caffeine, and c) he loves to stay well groomed.
I picked up the Threshold™ wooden bowl from Target and thought that it would make a great “gift bowl” inside a larger “gift bucket”. Sure enough, it did the job well. It created a specific configuration for my gift bucket project. All I had to do was decide on the contents, and then–the fun part–wrap it up! I couldn’t decide if I was going to give him a a) Sweet Tooth Gift Bucket, b) Caffeinated Gift Bucket, or c) Epic Grooming Bucket.
3 Holiday Gift Bucket Ideas For Him
The Sweet Tooth Bucket would have a variety of sweets, chocolates, and candy canes. My sister-in-law will thank me for including a Philips Sonicare 2 series toothbrush in my brother’s gift bucket to balance out all of the sugary goodness.
The Caffeinated Gift Bucket would have a nice collection of sodas, coffee in holiday flavors, and powdered energy drinks.
The Epic Grooming Bucket would have a large-sized hair gel, 9-piece travel kit “for the man on the go”, and a towel.
As you may have already noticed (if you’re a frequent Target shopper like me), I wrapped the items using a variety of supplies I found in The One Spot at Target. I love using tissue paper to wrap presents because they’re so versatile and typically less expensive (and they come in smaller pre-cut sizes compared to a large roll of giftwrapping paper). I also enjoy using inexpensive, seasonal tea towels to wrap holiday presents! The black-and-white stickers added a nice contrast and statement to my giftwrapping colors; it never hurts to use a lot of them (I even added some to the bucket).
Assembling The Gift Bucket
Before we assemble the gift basket, it helps to do a quick inventory of what we plan on putting inside:
- The “gift in a box” — the Philips Sonicare 2 series toothbrush
- The “gift in a bowl”–the wooden bowl shown in options A, B, and C, above
- The “gift in a tin”–the holiday dental survival kit
- The “gift in a bag”–the 3 packs of gum in a treat bag
- Loose items (like the towel and hair gel for the Epic Grooming Bucket)
Step 1. Place the bowl and its contents inside the bucket, first.
Step 2. Place the wrapped box of Philips Sonicare 2 series toothbrush above the bowl.
Step 3. Place the Christmas tin above the toothbrush box.
Step 4. Add in the treat bag and any other loose items (like the towel and hair gel), making sure to maintain a flat surface at the very top.
Step 5. Top the items with a chalkboard charger plate and write a message of your choice.
Step 6. Cover the top with tissue paper (I used black-and white washi tape to adhere the tissue paper to the bucket), embellish the bucket with stickers, and attach a large-sized wooden gift topper of your choice (I used a Christmas tree clothespin to clip on the gift topper).
Step 7. Don’t forget to write in the name of your recipient on the wooden gift topper / gift tag!
That’s it! Based on my experience, the guys have always been thrilled to “lightly punch” this tissue paper cover open! (Check out our other gift ideas as well as our 5 creative ways to wrap Christmas gifts without using giftwrapping paper and our 5 last-minute gift ideas for him that don’t look so last-minute).
Here’s a photo of some of the supplies that I used to wrap the presents and gift bucket.
I also purchased all of the gift items in the bucket at Target as well as the Philips Sonicare 2 series toothbrush. It helps to have a Target RedCard. If you don’t have one, here’s our affiliate link: Save 5% and get Free Shipping at Target – Apply for a REDcard
So, have you decided on what to get for the guys for Christmas? What other items would you put in a gift bucket?
