How’s your Monday coming along? Mondays are typically the busiest for many of us. Sometimes, life gets so busy and overwhelming with multiple competing priorities, we don’t even know where to start. As I was choosing a photo for today’s post, this shot of tree branches caught my eye and inspired today’s phototropic musings.
The arrangement of the branches reminds me of phototropism, a behavior most often observed in plants as they grow in response towards a light source. Growth towards a light source is known as positive phototropism. As confusing (or chaotic) as this arrangement may look like, there is beauty to be seen from multiple angles–most notably, their unified desire to grow towards the light.
Do you sometimes wish you were more organized? If so, I’m right there with you. But, thanks be to God, for always reminding me of this verse,
Commit thy works unto the Lord, and thy thoughts shall be established.
Proverbs 16:3 KJV
Or, the more popular Scripture memory verse we learned as kids,
Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
Proverbs 3:5-6 KJV
There are many other verses that God uses to assure us that He will take care of us and “order our steps” when our heart is right with him–including this one:
The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the Lord upholdeth him with his hand.
Psalm 37:23-24 KJV
My friend, if you’re feeling anxious and overwhelmed, let’s remember to look up instead of looking down. Let’s find the Light Source and let’s grow together towards that Light. He will cut through the chaos, He will “order our steps”, and by His grace will allow us (and others) to see the beauty amid the chaos.
Application
God is our one true Source of Light. Let us never be too busy or overwhelmed to seek Him first and acknowledge Him in all our ways so He can direct our path.
Take action: Psalm 119:105 KJV tells us that God’s Word is a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path. If you don’t have a Bible, I encourage you to find one. Pray that God would supply the right Bible for your spiritual growth. Your heart may be telling you that it’s time to start a fruitful relationship with Christ; this page shows you how.
