Do you like honey? Have you ever wondered or questioned the purity of the honey that you purchase? We purchase raw honey from a local beekeeper at the Farmer’s Market, and while we may not be experts at testing the purity of honey, we trust that we get only the best honey from him. The above photo of a honeybee reminds us of a great passage in Scripture that teaches us how to present a sweet gift–a pure offering and sacrifice to God. Ephesians 5:2 KJV urges us to:
…walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.
A Sweet Gift From God
As Christ offered His life–His sweet Gift–as a sacrifice for our salvation out of His love for us and obedience to His Father, we are encouraged to offer our lives as “a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.” Romans 12:1 KJV
Am I truly living my life as a sweet gift, “a sacrifice acceptable, wellpleasing to God” (Philippians 4:18 KJV)? Or, am I presenting a gift that’s diluted with my own desires, my own strengths, and my own glory? By His mercy and grace, He can purify my life, my sacrifice, with the blood that He shed on the Cross.
Application
Through applying and meditating on His Word with prayer, we can tap into His power to present our lives–including our sweet gifts and talents–as a “sacrifice acceptable, wellpleasing to God”.
Take action: There are a lot of principles to learn about godly living in Ephesians 5. If you haven’t had a chance to read it, why not take action and spend some time to do so today? If you would like to get to know God personally and receive His sweet Gift for you, this page shows you how.
Let’s make our lives, our sweet gift, count for Christ!
