Divine landscapes, vistas, and details are all around us. Sometimes, we’re just too wrapped up in ourselves and/or our own problems that we forget to look around and appreciate the beauty in our surroundings. Then, there are some of us who do manage to level up and enjoy these amazing creations–sometimes, all too much that we forget to look up and appreciate the Creator.
The Purpose of Divine Landscapes
Beautiful things, like the most beautiful landscapes, are meant to point us to the One Who made them. To bring this point home, wouldn’t it be awful if our children grew up learning to love us only for the gifts we give them?
What do these divine landscapes mean to you and me? What do we see, what do we remember, what do we ponder each time we see one of God’s wonderful masterpieces? I can tell you this: as I take a moment to appreciate my surroundings, I am reminded of God’s character and perfect timing.
A glimpse into the character of God
As I was reading Psalm 147 today, I was gently reminded of this:
The same God Who is great, powerful, and mighty to do all of the wonderful things mentioned in Psalm 147 is the same God Who loves, protects, and provides for me. It’s THAT personal.
He loves me. Psalm 147:3 KJV states,
He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.
He protects and provides for me. Psalm 147:13-14 KJV states,
For he hath strengthened the bars of thy gates; he hath blessed thy children within thee. He maketh peace in thy borders, and filleth thee with the finest of the wheat.
Wouldn’t it be great to have Someone THIS awesome as your Heavenly Father? He’s the coolest dad one could ever have. I mean, He made…this, that, those…and all of these! He made you and me! AND, He loves, protects, and provides for me as much as He does for you!
The temptation to doubt and point fingers
Just this past weekend, we shared how my husband and I received some devastating news–the type that gives you the chills like a ticking time bomb (a really mean one that you could’ve discovered sooner but just didn’t have the chance to do so). While the Enemy wanted to use that to turn us against each other (the temptation was great to point fingers), God’s light cut through the darkness. He allowed us to find peace and calm in the storm as we trusted and waited on Him (instead of each other, instead of others) for an answer. We could’ve discovered the ticking time bomb last month but we were probably not ready to pass the test and receive the blessing. Yes! The blessing! We received our answer today, and God showed us how He could turn a very deadly ticking time bomb into a DOUBLE blessing. At most, we only asked Him for a “non-event”. Instead, it turned into a DOUBLE blessing that we would’ve never been able to discover and claim on our own.
A glimpse into God’s perfect timing
God’s timing is always perfect. The movement of everything in space around, above, and below us–everything–is in His control. He’s in charge! So, when we’re in trouble, why can’t we simply call the One Who’s in charge?
This resounding Biblical principle has proven itself in our lives over and over again. It’s not a testimony of how awesome of a Christian we are (it’s quite the contrary), but rather, how great of a God we have and serve!
When in trouble, just call.
It’s a very simple principle, yet it seems to be one of the most difficult to do especially when faced with a very challenging, urgent and emergent problem. Nevertheless, Jeremiah 33:3 KJV says,
Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.
As we shared in our story above, He has yet again shown us great and mighty things today. His mercies are new every morning. Great is His faithfulness!
Another beautiful day
Before I go, let me just share that today is such a beautiful day! Gorgeous, clear blue Florida skies. Fresh, crisp air. A gentle winter breeze. All of this beauty, all of this divine landscaping, is meant to point us to a great, wonderful, and loving Father Who loves, protects, and provides for you and me.
Be inspired and encouraged: If you haven’t read the full chapter of Psalm 147, why not check it out today? If you’d like to have God as your Heavenly Father, this page tells you how. We hope you won’t delay.
God bless you!
