Happy “Friday Eve”, everyone!
Today’s forecast: foggy with a chance of bed rest!
Before anything else, just wanted to say “Thank You” for all of your support this past week especially with our Valentine’s Day crafts and owl printables! We’re taking a sick day today from our home / mobile office as well as from making crafty things because the brain fog has struck, again! No, we’re not referring to creative block. We’re talking about migraine, and if you’ve ever experienced a migraine attack before, you’ll most likely agree that it’s not just another headache. It’s more–“more” in that it, among other things, it can last between 4 and 72 hours. It’s pretty much been 24 hours for me so far. It’s almost gone, so things are just foggy now.
When I was pregnant with our third son, my migraine was just the worst ever. I required a LOT of bed rest. I had to quit my corporate job. I needed to close the curtains at home. I was always nauseated. I couldn’t stand loud noises. It was pretty bad, and from what I’ve heard, the experience is different for each person. It’s even different for each pregnancy, if you ask me. When I was pregnant with our fourth son last year, my migraines came back (although not as bad as they used to be, by God’s grace). As you can probably tell with this post, the migraines decided to stay after his birth. Old age, maybe? 😉 Kidding aside, I noticed that disrupted sleep and missed meals are the main culprits for me. Depending on the severity, my migraine can be pretty impairing.
Thankful moment: I’m blessed with a supportive husband and wonderful children who not only care for me during my migraine attacks (which happen about twice a month) but also do a great job at handling day-to-day stuff that comes with being a part of a family of six and running a small business from home!
Facts and Statistics About Migraines
The startling statistics and facts about migraine confirm that I’m not alone. Among the world’s most prevalent medical conditions, it’s pretty crazy that migraine has taken the #3 spot! All in all, nearly 36 million Americans suffer from migraines (including its various characteristics), and more American women (approximately 18%) suffer from attacks more than men (approximately 6%).
