The excitement and adrenaline have been building up in our house just as fast as the race cars have been zipping through those speedways! Anyone who walks into our house knows when it’s Race Day! Thankfully, we have successfully found a way to re-channel our boys’ interests from conveniently repurposing our walls into a speedway to repurposing a bankers box into a DIY Race Car Dream Garage, instead!
Perhaps the coolest part of this garage is the remote control feature–and how the boys can set the timer and/or dim the lights wirelessly, as they so choose. Now they have a cool place to park their cars.
Anyway, do you have a list of items that you like to stock up on? Since we do a lot of papercrafting at home, stocking up on paper comes as no surprise–most especially when they’re on sale. We like to set aside a stash just for the kids, for when the creative bug hits.
A bankers box has always been a simple, straightforward way to store craft paper in all kinds of colors… until one day, one of our kids came up and asked if the banker’s box could be a part of their Race Day project.
Suddenly, everyone wanted to design their own race car dream garage using a bankers box! So, off to Walmart we went.
While we were at Walmart, we thought it’d also be a good time to re-stock on some Advil Film-Coated, especially with a $3 off coupon*. I don’t know about you, but I sure do get excited over a $3 savings especially when I can use it towards purchasing more bankers boxes (and other crafting loot) 😉 SCORE!
I use fast acting Advil Film-Coated for headaches, muscle aches, toothaches, menstrual cramps, back pain, and aches and pains associated with the common cold.
With a lot of action going on in our home, especially on Race Day, I can’t afford to miss out on joining the kids as they build the garage of their dreams! With my headaches out of the way, we were able to focus on showcasing their favorite new car collection in a whole new way!
A FAST ACTING, rapid release formula is the only way to go when it comes to dealing with my aches and pains–and Advil Film-Coated goes to work in minutes! This Advil is formulated with a unique Advil Ion Core Technology and an ultra thin shell to absorb quickly – in fact nothing is proven to work faster.**
Kids’ Race Car Dream Garage With Remote-Control Lighting
Who ever knew that plain old bankers boxes could be so much fun? The kids will enjoy designing and naming their own DIY race car dream garage with just a few basic supplies!
Supplies Needed:
- 1 Bankers box
- 2 pieces 12 x 12 black-and-white checkered scrapbook paper
- 1 piece 12 x 12 black card stock
- 3 paper roll tubes, red
- 3 Toy cars
- Glue
- Paper trimmer (or scissors and ruler)
- 3 LED puck lights with remote control (and batteries)
Directions:
- Assemble bankers box and place it on its long side with the opening facing you (you will not need the banker’s box lid unless you prefer to use it for storing your project away)
- Cut 12 x 12 black card stock into four even strips
- Attach two of the black strips onto each corner of the “back wall”
- Trim off bottom of remaining two black strips (so that each strip measures 9.625 inches in length), then attach strips onto each corner of the “floor”
- Glue one of the 12 x 12 checkered scrapbook sheets onto the center of the “back wall”
- Trim one side of the other 12 x 12 checkered scrapbook paper (so that it measures 9.625 inches long), then attach it onto the center of the “floor”
- Glue paper roll tubes onto the “floor”
- Carefully place cars on top of the paper roll tubes
- Add remote-control lights (we added three lights onto the ceiling)
- Turn on lights and enjoy!
Someone thought of naming their project the Hot Rod Hotel…
… and that it had “no vacancy” with the exception of #95 (we’re cheering for Ty Dillion)!

This is such an adorable DIY for my son. I have to make sure he doesn’t see it quite yet because he will want to head to Walmart right away to get the supplies! #client

What an awesome idea, think I might do this for some of my son’s block creations!
