Keeping A Close Watch

June 14, 2016 by JD Leave a Comment

1 Peter 5:8 KJV - Christian Devotion
A watchful Great Blue Heron at the Lake Apopka North Shore Wildlife Drive

When we used to live in Hawai’i, we made it a point to pray before entering our home–that God would go before us and bless our home as well as purge it from evil… that God would prepare and cleanse our hearts before we even stepped inside. We know firsthand how much the Enemy wants to split up families, and God has given us the responsibility of keeping a close watch through prayer.

We’ve since moved quite a few times. To make the long story short, we have sadly forgotten to pray each time we would enter our home.

This week, we have encouraged each other to reinstitute such prayers. It’s amazing how quickly we forget what we had learned to do a while back, no matter how long we’d been doing it! The Enemy likes to tempt us with lots of distractions (and he arms us with many excuses). Besides that, we have been facing multiple attacks lately, especially since we started doing these devotions on our blog more regularly.

Do you know a family who can benefit from your prayers, specifically asking God that He would bless their home each time they enter? Any home, any family, any person can use these constant, faithful prayers of protection to safeguard against the Enemy.

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

1 Peter 5:8 KJV

Indeed, we must be watchful. Let us pray for one another daily.

Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. The spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is weak.

Mark 14:38 KJV

Take action: Do you feel as if your home has been under attack lately? Let’s turn to God and ask that He would bless and protect our home as well as cleanse our hearts before we enter it. If you’ve been feeling a sense of hopelessness lately, call upon God and ask Him to give you thoughts of peace. Don’t listen to the Enemy’s lies and whispers. There is Hope! God is ready to give you that Hope today; this page shows you how.
