Hawai’i Dreamin’

April 30, 2016 by JD Leave a Comment

Psalm 126:3 KJV - Christian Devotion - God Answers Prayer

The weekend is here, and so is the end of the month! Already?! Where did the time go? We’re still way behind and haven’t talked much about our dream vacation in Hawai’i back in February.

March was a time of hospitalization for one of our kids and a cancer scare for me (we called it a mini staycation… only this time, it was in the hospital). April was definitely a time of recovery and renewal. Oh, and I almost forgot about January–that crazy month when the flu came to visit each and every one of us in the family. All six of us. How has 2016 been for you thus far?

Please don’t think that I’m complaining–far from it, at least not today. Ohhhh, there are times when I do give in and wish that life could be better… but each time I look back at the wonderful things that God has done for me, I always come to the conclusion that my life is the best that it’s ever been.

Okay, let’s go back and take a look at the photo. This was taken during our Hawaii trip from our oceanfront unit with my 400mm lens pointing down. The “real” view would have been a vast, unobstructed view of the ocean and the people down below looked like little ants–well, almost. At the very last minute, God had allowed for us to get this upgraded unit. But, let’s go back in time a little bit. At the last minute, God made a way for us to visit Hawai’i this year. We didn’t think it would be possible given the many hospital visits and the birth of our youngest son last year. Quite frankly, we didn’t think we could afford it. Still, we prayed and even threw in an “extra” prayer request in there–that we would all be able to realize our dream to visit the Big Island together as a family of six. You probably know the end of the story, if you’ve been following us on Instagram–God’s answer came. We not only got to visit Oahu. We also got to visit the Big Island. Oh, and we also got to visit Indian Wells in California. None of these came by way of “working with brands” and getting paid to travel and stay at the beautiful resorts for free. They were all part of God’s miracle and He made a way for all of us to go.

Truly, I can say,

The Lord hath done great things for us; whereof we are glad.

Psalm 126:3 KJV

When was the last time you called upon God and asked for what seemed to be impossible?

Let me just leave you with a few verses, before I go. Time and again I am reminded of His great power and love when I sit back to remember His blessings.

Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.

Jeremiah 33:3 KJV

O taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.

Psalm 34:8 KJV

Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.

Ephesians 3:20-21 KJV
