We were shopping at Target yesterday to replenish on some baby supplies that we had forgotten to order by subscription on their website. We could’ve still ordered them online since we enjoy free shipping with our Target REDcard, but we decided to get out and get some of our walking fitness goals down at Target. Then came the flashbacks…

Flashback #1: Believe it or not–back when I was pregnant and had Gestational Diabetes, my Nutritionist gave me the okay to go shopping (a.k.a. brisk walking) to get my physical activity levels up. My husband, as supportive as he is, agreed to go “brisk walking” with me.
There were times, however, when it felt like my husband was doing the “Vulcan mind meld” to remind me that we were there to walk more and shop less. Do most husbands do that??
Anyway, when the doctor put me on bed rest during my third trimester, most of our shopping at Target was done online and by subscription. We got used to the convenience, so much so that we signed up for their Target Baby Registry and nowhere else (because we like to keep things simple). This was our first time signing up with any baby registry and we wish we had done it sooner… as to why we waited until we had Baby #4? We don’t know.
Okay, now that was a lengthy flashback!
Perhaps, the postpartum fog is finally starting to go away…
Anyway, fast forward to yesterday…
We went to several stores to run errands and that’s when “The Plaid” hit us.
Plaid toiletries, plaid soda cans, plaid paper goods, plaid everything.
Plaid. Plaid. Plaid.
The 90’s look has made a comeback, and we’re now old enough to say…
Wish we could’ve kept some of our 90’s wardrobe for today’s 90’s 2.0.
Flashback #2: My dad was right. He knew it all along. He lived through many fashion cycles… until he sadly passed away in the 90’s. But let me tell ya, he sure did rock the plaid in the 90’s (he was still smilin’ & stylin’ in his late 80’s)! He wore them at church, at home, and pretty much everywhere!
I have many fond memories of my dad, mostly about his love for God and his commitment to being in God’s house. His favorite hymn was, “How Great Thou Art”. While he may be chuckling at my temporary loss of fashion sense after having Babies #3 and #4, I certainly hope he is smiling down at us for our continued love for God.
As you can see, being surrounded with so much plaid brought back some good old memories that we were inspired to make our own rad plaid patterns. We softened the tone a bit using the softer shades of blue (we’re still in newborn baby boy mode), and we’re happy to share the free printables with you!
But, wait a sec… what kind of rad plaid memories / flashbacks do you have? Feel free to share in the comments!

I love plaid! I just can’t seem to find it as much as I used to. Well, at least in the colors and patterns I like. I used to wear it all the time! But the big thing that caught me on this post was free shipping with the Red card. I had no idea! I’ve been a Red Card carrier for a long time and I didn’t know I got free shipping! Sweet!!! This could be dangerous, and my Vivofit might not be happy with me if I don’t get that brisk walking in as I walk from one end of Target back to the other, LOL. Thanks for linking up to the Sunshine Life Link Up!
