DIY Spa Gift + 2-Ingredient Eye Mask Recipe

December 21, 2015 by JD 1 Comment

Just 4 more days to go until Christmas! Perhaps you’re here because you can’t decide on what to give her for Christmas, even if you’ve already got something nice all wrapped up and ready to go. Maybe you’re still looking for last-minute gift ideas (or stocking stuffers) that you can easily make at home. Don’t worry, we won’t make it complicated! We’ve got a DIY Spa Gift idea for you that’s only made with 2 ingredients that’s probably already in your kitchen, and all you have to do is mix it up and put it in an airtight glass container.

DIY Spa Gift and Eye Mask Recipe

We’re sharing this super easy recipe for you that you can use as a gift or for a spa party! It’s made with 2 ingredients that we’ve come across during our Southeast Asia travels as well as during our Hawaii resort staycations when we used to live there. The good news is, you don’t need to spend a whole lot to replicate the experience for someone else or for yourself right in the comfort of your own home.

DIY Spa Gift

Since this DIY spa gift is super easy to make, we decided to add other handmade elements to it, so we got our Cricut Machine out along with some gold vinyl and made a cut out of a cute little pineapple.

Handmade Spa Gift and Eye Mask Recipe

Supply List

  • Airtight Glass Containers
  • Cricut machine or any electronic cutting machine that can read or convert layered SVG files
  • StandardGrip Machine Mat
  • Premium Fine Point Blade
  • Scraper, Weeder, and Scissors from the Tool Set
  • Your choice Cricut Vinyl (we used black and gold glitter vinyl) depending on your project: Iron-On HTV   |  or  |   Smart Vinyl (if cutting without a mat)
  • Cricut Transfer Tape
  • Craft / popsicle stick (if you lost the one that came with your transfer tape
  • Pineapple design of your choice (from Cricut Design Space)

Cricut Explore Air Vinyl Project
Decorate a plain airtight glass container with gold vinyl

Instructions:

  1. Cut out a piece of vinyl and attach it to the adhesive cutting mat (liner side down).
  2. Follow the prompts to cut out your project using your Cricut Explore Air (making sure you select “vinyl” on the dial).
  3. Weed out the negatives using a Cricut weeding tool.
  4. Cut out a piece of transfer tape and adhere it (adhesive side down) to the cut-out on your adhesive cutting mat.
  5. Follow the instructions provided with the transfer tape to adhere your vinyl design onto your project.

If you’re more visual (like us), check out these easy steps on how to use Cricut transfer tape.

Now that the pretty glass container is all set, it’s time to make the super easy eye mask!

Pineapple Turmeric Eye Mask Recipe

This DIY spa gift can’t get any easier! It only takes 2 ingredients to make it. Pineapples are pretty easy to find and turmeric can be purchased online or at various health stores. If you like to make curry at home, chances are, you already have turmeric powder in your pantry. We used organic pineapples and organic turmeric powder.

2-ingredient eye mask recipe for dark circles

Ingredients:

  •  1 part pineapple juice (we juiced fresh pineapple slices using our high-powered blender)
  • 1 part organic turmeric powder

Directions:

  1. In a glass mixing bowl, combine equal parts of pineapple juice and turmeric powder to make a paste.
  2. Scoop mixture into airtight glass container of your choice.

If you’re unable to gift it right away, we suggest refrigerating your mixture for up to 3 days. The fresher the better, though! To add a nice touch, you can add a set of instructions with your DIY spa gift.

Instructions:

  1. Wash face with cleanser of choice and pat dry.
  2. Apply eye mask onto affected area (under the eyes) and leave on for 10 minutes (or less as desired).
  3. Rinse with water and pat dry.
  4. Store excess eye mask in refrigerator up to 3 days.

Easy enough, right?

Do you know of anyone who would appreciate this luxurious DIY spa gift? Feel free to bookmark, share, or pin for later!

NOTE: As with any product, its always best to consult your doctor before use.

When I harvest my turmeric the little roots go with the big ones. I eat them fresh, but I did not know what to do with the tiny bits, until I read your blog. Now nothing will go to waste; right now I’m going to blend these tiny bits, but instead of pineapple I have ready lemon juice here. I will try this combination, anyway. Thank you for all the wonderful ideas you share. God bless you.
