Yeeehawww! We have a friend who’s going to be a new dad real soon! With baby showers for men growing in popularity these days, we thought we’d giddy up and go with a cowboy theme to celebrate this exciting occasion! Whether you’re looking for baby shower gift ideas for new or seasoned dads, you just can’t go wrong with a Cowboy Baby Shower Gift Bucket filled with essentials that make for “better beginnings” for both dad and baby!
Cowboy Baby Shower Gift Bucket Roundup
Filling our friend’s gift bucket was easy! The first thing we did was look up their Target Baby Registry, then we used the Target mobile app to build our shopping list to make the Ultimate Cowboy Baby Shower Gift Bucket!
If we could offer advice to some parents-to-be out there, we’d tell them to start a baby registry at Target–it’s the #1 place for baby registries! When we were pregnant with our youngest son (who recently turned 1), our friends constantly reminded us to “please start a Target Baby Registry!” We’re so glad we listened, because Target is a convenient one-stop shop for baby!
So, let’s take a look at what’s inside our gift bucket:
- Playtex Baby™ Nurser® with Drop-Ins® Liners Gift Set
- 3-pack Playtex Baby™ VentAire® Advanced Wide Bottles
- Calming baby soap
- Bulb Syringe
- Thermometer
- “I love Daddy” bibs
- For dad: Caffeinated soda beverages, midnight snacks, and cowboy stress ball
Assembling the Cowboy Baby Shower Gift Bucket
Step 1. Start with the “big and heavy rocks first”, like the caffeinated soda beverages.
… Because our friend could use a little bit of caffeine! 😉 Plus, the added weight will keep him wondering what’s inside that bucket!
Step 2. Stack up the boxes of Playtex Baby bottles!
We know how excited our friend is about feeding their baby for the very first time! We chose 2 different types of Playtex Baby bottles because we want him to have “better beginnings” with baby, too–like we did! My husband always enjoyed rocking our babies to sleep after a good feeding!
On choosing baby bottles–for “better beginnings”:
When we were supplementing, we used Playtex Baby Nurser with Drop-Ins Liners (when they were newborns) and Playtex Baby VentAire (when they were a little older). Both bottles have the Most Like Mom® NaturaLatch® Nipple feature that helps baby to latch on naturally, making switching between breast and bottle feeding a little easier for us (especially dad!) and our babies.
Reducing colic was also one of our top considerations when choosing baby bottles. The easy-to-use liners that are designed for the Playtex Baby Nurser bottles prevent air from getting into milk and mixing with baby’s tummy, while the tiny anti-colic bottom vents on the Playtex Baby VentAire keep air at the back of the bottle.
As parents, we know that ear infections are common in babies. To help prevent it, we hold our babies in a semi-upright feeding position as recommended by our pediatrician (the angled design of the Playtex Baby VentAire bottles makes it easier to feed our baby in this position).
Step 3. Fill in the empty space with smaller items.
Smaller items like baby bibs, a bulb syringe, and thermometer are perfect for this… oh, and let’s not forget about the snacks for dad!
Decorating the Cowboy Baby Shower Gift Bucket
Now that we’re done with the easy part, it’s time for the fun part–decorating!

This is too cute! We threw a couple’s shower for our daughter and son-in-law before our grandson was born. Thankfully today’s dads are more involved than ever before and want to celebrate just like moms do. Really creative!
