Today’s devotion is going to be a little different–just as we did our family devotions differently today. We thought we’d change things up a bit just to keep from simply going through the motions without much–or any–understanding.
To prevent our flesh from the temptation of falling into a mindless routine that could rob us of the blessing of God’s message, we decided to put our devotion book down and start reading John 15. God laid that chapter upon our hearts today, as we’ve been experiencing some “branching out” in our lives. This new growth can so easily turn into a temptation if not for God’s Word that’s been hid (memorized) in our hearts. He quickly reminded us of this verse,
I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
John 15:5 KJV
We encourage you to take a moment to read John 15 and allow God to speak to you.
Application
Let’s remember to branch out and bear fruit for His glory, instead of simply branching out… appearing to be productive, appearing to be successful, without bearing any eternal fruit.
Take action: Have you been feeling God’s hand on your shoulder, inviting you to be a part of His family? Maybe you’ve been sensing His leading, His calling, for you to do something great for Him. If you haven’t settled where you will be spending eternity, this this page tells you how to take care of that today.
